FAQ
What is Underground Comedy?
Underground Comedy produces live comedy shows in multiple locations across Washington, DC. Our main venue, The Big Hunt, is located in Dupont Circle (1345 Connecticut Ave NW) and has shows Tuesday through Saturday.
What should I expect at a Big Hunt show?
Big Hunt is a legendary dive bar in Dupont Circle. We've produced hundreds of live comedy shows in the basement there over the past seven years.
It is not a typical comedy club. There is a bar and a full menu, but there are no tables or waitstaff, just rows of chairs and a bartender.
The shows are partially seated and seating is on a first come, first served basis. Doors for the shows open 20 minutes before showtime. Generally, if you arrive 20 minutes early, you'll be able to get a seat. Your ticket guarantees entrance, but once the seats have been filled, it will be for standing room.
It is not possible for us to save seats for groups.
You do not need a physical ticket, we'll have your name at the door.
You will need an ID to show that you are over 21 to enter the venue.
How do I purchase tickets or make a reservation for a specific show?
You can purchase tickets on the website for the professional shows. There may also be tickets available at the door if the show is not sold out.
You don't need to make reservations to the free shows, but if you do, you will be notified of any changes to the show.
Are there any age restrictions?
The venues themselves set the age restrictions, not Underground Comedy - they tend to be very strict about them. ID is required to enter all venues.
Big Hunt, Wonderland Ballroom, and Reliable Tavern are all 21+.
DC Drafthouse is 18+.
What does it mean when a show is a “Special Event?”
From time to time we have special events that may not follow our normal schedule or ticket prices. They will be listed on the website ahead of time.
